We have talked a lot about Hanhart recently, as we talked about their history, as well as reviewing their new 415 ES chronograph. They said that I don’t get a long break from talking about them, as they have released a new AQUASPHERE. This is not a review of the piece, as I have not seen it in person; this is just an announcement.
In the fall of last year, Hanhart entered into a new venture. They have conquered the skies with pilot watches for the last 80-plus years, and decided to take a crack at conquering the sea. The AQUASPHERE line was born to high remarks as an extremely classic and timeless design, as is Hanhart’s signature. They released it in blue and with an option of a bracelet or a strap.
This time they have made a dial they call Ocean fade, this dial gives you a lot of variety as you can have 4 different strap options with 2 different bezels, which makes 8 different combinations. The dial is inspired by the vision divers have as they dive ever deeper into the abyss, as the final strands of light stretch to the cold, black deep. The bezel options are black or blue; my favorite part about it is the font of the numerals. I don’t know how to explain it, but it just looks so cool. The red accents on this watch also come so well together, from the seconds hand, to the triangle on the bezel, to the ever iconic red marker at the top of the case.
They made a brand new rubber strap to follow the new piece, which reminds me a bit of the old rubber straps from Breitling circa 2005-2015. They made it like the bezel in both black and blue. For me, the best match is a blue bezel and blue strap, but the black strap is very clean. You can also get the watch with a blue nato strap, so we are spoilt for choice when it comes to strap options.
If we go into some technical details, you have 300 meters of water resistance, so you have more than enough for your diving needs, with strong Super-LumiNova® not only applied on the markers and indexes but also on the numerals on the bezel. The watch has an automatic caliber based on the Soprod SOP P024.
The watch is in the 42mm size with a rather compact case as the lug-to-lug size is only 49mm, and it’s under 13 mm thick, making it a very versatile daily piece. Price-wise, it is highly affordable, with the steel bracelet version coming in at 1690 euros and the rubber version only being 1590 euros.
Overall, this watch is a welcome addition to the recently minted AQUASPHERE collection. We hope to be able to see it soon, and we always look forward to seeing more from Hanhart. If you want to take a closer look at this watch, I will leave a link to the product page here.
