The Japanese brand Orient, which is probably best known for its phenomenal bang for your buck status. At the front of that statement, you have the Orient Bambino. Since its conception, it has been hailed as a brilliant beginner watch and as likely the best affordable dress watch on the market. Up to this point, it has always had a date function, making it a more wearable day-to-day timepiece. But now, for the first time, we see it without this ever-present function.

One of the more attractive things about the Bambino has always been the fact that it is mechanical, making the lucrative price point of just 340 euros even more attractive.  Now they did not go small and test the market with one Bambino that strayed away from the proven date function formula, but instead we have pieces all in a very comfortable 38.4 mm, making them brilliantly sized for a dress watch.

The five colors we have are: Green, white, Beige, brown, and gray. Of these, I suspect that the white and beige versions will be most popular, similar to how they are in the date variants. My favorite of these colorways is the brown. After only seeing it in pictures, I just expect the sunburst color to be stunning. I am also a tad bit tired of the white and beige, as they are so simple and lacking in personality. The gray is very cool as well and is my second pick, with green being in third, despite the fact that I would never buy it due to this type of green not looking good on me.

Now, they did not fully stray away from the date variants, as alongside these new pieces, Orient released six new 40.5 mm variants, some being steel and some being gold-plated. The colors are purple, light blue, forest green, beige, silver, and gold-plated white. These come in at the same 340 EUR price as the no date, the only exception being the gold-plated version coming in at 370 EUR.
